Hungarian z from Ugric *s is problematic, but if the dialectal words with sz indeed belong here, it is possible that z has developed due to secondary voicing.
However, the Ugric etymology remains unclear, as the relation Khanty ŋ ~ Hu g (< *ŋk) is irregular.
