Commentary
As the vowel-relations within Ob-Ugric are not completely regular, it is uncertain whether a Proto-Ugric word can be reconstructed.
Abondolo (1996: 62) assumes that the word is a possible derivative from Proto-Finno-Ugric *tiki-/*tiγi- (in Abondolo's reconstruction: UEW *tekɜ- 'thrust, push'), but this explanation is not convincing as the stems for 'fire' and 'thrust, push' have different vowels in Ob-Ugric.
