Commentary
The Ugric etymology is listed as uncertain in the UEW.
The etymology is irregular: Hungarian u does not correspond regularly to Khanty *ü. UEW argues that the Proto-Ugric word had a front vowel and that the Hungarian velar vowel is due to influence from *ŋk, but this development lacks exact parallels. UEW mentions Hu fogoly < PU *piŋä or *püŋä and fog < PU *''piŋə as parallels, but in these cases the Hungarian vowel is *o, not *u.
UEW also notes the semantic differences, arguing that the etymology is convincing only if the meaning 'kick' attested in Hungarian is the original.
Due to the phonological and semantic differences it is best to reject the etymology. The resemblance of the Hungarian and Khanty words can also be accidental.
Conclusion
No Proto-Ugric word can be reconstructed.
