Commentary
The Ugric etymology is listed as uncertain by the UEW because of the scarce attestation of the Khanty word. EWUng makes no mention of the Ugric etymology but notes that rövid is a derivative of a stem that is of uknown origin.
In addition to the scarce attestation, it should also be remarked that a sound correspondence Hu ö ~ East Khanty i would be irregular which is a further argument against the etymology.
The origin of rövid remains unknown as no competing etymologies have been suggested.
Conclusion
The Ugric etymology should be rejected.
