Commentary
The Ugric etymology is supported by Zhivlov (2016) in his discussion of the emergence of Khanty retroflex nasal. Zhivlov reconstructs the Proto-Ugric word as *minV-. All the suggested reflexes clearly point to *i, so UEW's reconstruction with *e is erroneous. If the retroflex *ṇ should indeed be reconstructed into Proto-Ugric, as Zhivlov (2016) quite convincingly argues, the reconstruction of the Proto-Ugric word should be *miṇV-.
Conclusion
A regular Ugric etymology.
