Commentary
The Hungarian words are derivatives, and the stem kes- is of possible Ugric origin according to UEW.
UEW lists this Ugric etymology among the "certain" etymologies, even though the explanation involves various problems. As UEW notes, Hungarian s cannot be regularly derived from the same source as Ob-Ugric *ńć. The Khanty and Mansi words clearly belong together, and formally they could reflect Uralic *käńćV, but UEW mentions the possibility that the Mansi word (confined to the northern dialects) is borrowed from Khanty.
In addition to the phonological problems, there are also semantic differences. Due to these problems, the Proto-Ugric etymology should be rejected and other sources for Hungarian keshed should be sought elsewhere.
Conclusion
The Proto-Ugric etymology has to be rejected due to phonological and semantic problems.
