Loan etymology
Hu fizet ← Iranian (Alanic), cf. Ossetic fid- 'pay'
Commentary
The Iranian origin of the Hungarian word is plausible. The donor form looks like Alanic, but the loan has to be relatively early, as it has to predate the emergence of Hungarian z.
Conclusion
The Iranian loan etymology is convincing.
