Commentary

The Ugric etymology is very problematic, as the phonological relations between Hungarian faggyú and Khanty poľt̀ etc. are irregular. The background of Hungarian ggy is unclear, but there are no convincing parallels of gy or ggy reflecting *ľ, and such a sound is not reconstructed to Proto-Uralic in more recent sources (such as Aikio 2022), and Sammallahti (1988: 519) notes that very few words showing *ľ could be reconstructed to Proto-Ugric (Sammallahti considers Hu ly the possible reflex of this Proto-Ugric sound).

It is possible that the Hungarian and Khanty words are parallel loanwords that show different substitutions of some phoneme of the donor language, but it is difficult to say anything more in detail.

Conclusion

Due to phonological problems no Proto-Ugric word can be reconstructed.
