Status of the Ugric etymology

Implausible

Cognates suggested in earlier research

UEW:

Mansi: South (TJ) tōmp 'Insel', (T) tōmp 'Hügel' East (KU) tomp 'Insel', tump 'Insel', North (So) tump 'Insel'

Commentary

Both the initial d and the consonant cluster mb in Hungarian are incompatible with the alleged Mansi comparanda.

Conclusion

The etymology is phonologically completely irregular and should be rejected.
