Commentary
The origin of Hungarian d is problematic, as this would be an irregular reflex of Ugric word-initial *t. Very few parallels for such a development exists, and the reasons are not clear.
The vowel-relations between Hu dob and Mansi LO tå̄mp- are not problematic, but the very limited distribution of the Mansi word makes the idea of an old word dubious.
Conclusion
Due to problems with Hungarian voiced d, the etymology remains uncertain.
